GRASPING THE FOUNDATION OF HIGHER LEVEL LANGUAGE AND HUMANITIES

As your child continues his/her academic progression, English mastery takes on a whole new level. Not only are higher level critical thinking skills required but also, proficiency in the language and exposure to current affairs. In the lower secondary classes, we beef up the students with content knowledge, an arsenal of wide vocabulary and strategic skill sets necessary for tackling both English Language and Literature.

Incorporating the SAIL approach, your child will be equipped with the following skill sets:

• Building on and strengthening foundation in complex grammar structures
• Familiarisation with the writing of and analysis of various text types (exposition, narratives, literary, visual, poems)
• Enhanced critical thinking and answering skills to ace Comprehension open-ended components
• Mastery of answering skills for the Comprehension open-ended component
• Mastery of writing skills incorporating write-to-score techniques
• Mastery of literary skills with know-how on literary devices and annotation skills
• Coverage on both components of Paper 1 and 2- Editing, Continuous Writing, Situational Writing, Visual text, Comprehension, Narrative Text Comprehension, Informative Text Comprehension
• Coverage on literary components- Literary text analysis, Poem analysis
